We have a variety of racing opportunities for the club - when there's snow in Madison we hod races on Tuesday Nights at Elver Park. There are other races in the area that we think you should know about as well.

2010 Elver Park Races

The MadNorSki Tuesday Night Elver Races at Madison's Elver Park will be held on the lighted trails on January 5, 12, 19, 26, and February 2, 9 & 16 in 2010. Race distances will generally be 5K and 10K with skating and classic technique classes. The race format and course may differ from week to week. Information regarding each race will be posted to the XC email list prior to the race including schedule changes and cancellations. All skiers are welcome.  First timer, women's and kids race info below. Results on left side of this page. Special Event Races

Several special event races are planned for this year in conjunction with the Tuesday night race series. NOTE: registration is at 5:30 pm in the Elver Park Shelter with a race start of 6:00 pm for all special event races.

  • High School/Collegiate Race, January 5, 2010.
  • First-Timers Race, January 12, 2010. This race is designed for new or inexperienced skiers who would like to try racing in a smaller group and at a shorter distance. This race will be 2-3K in length on easier sections of the lighted trails. Skiers can use either skating or classic techniques. Results will be posted here. There is no fee for the First-Timers Race and everyone is welcome.
  • Women's 3k/5k Race, January 26, 2010.
  • Kid's 12 and Under Race, February 9, 2010.  rescheduled to February 16, 2010.
    • "Thanks to all of you responsible for organizing the kid's race last night. My kids were two of the participants. My six-year-old daughter loved every minute of it. Despite initially being intimidated and somewhat skeptical about "racing," my five-year-old son decided to go for it after seeing other kids in bibs. Both finished with huge smiles, are still talking about it, and can't wait to do it again."

A ski trail pass is required for those 14 and older and is not included in the price of the race. The trail pass is $8 daily or $26 yearly and can be bought from Elver & Odana Shelters when staffed, any trail head, or online. This trail pass is for Madison and Dane County skiing at the following parks: Elver, Odana, Cam-Rock, Indian Lake, Lake Farm, Stewart Park and Token Creek. The funds from the pass make it possible to keep the trails groomed, the lights on and the property maintained.
