The fight to stop the approved snowmobile trail through BMSP is not over!!!
The Natural Resources Board (NRB) “revisited” their prior approval and then re-approved the plan on January 25, 2017.
There was overwhelming silent sport opposition with many Madison Ski Club members providing written comments and testifying at the NRB meeting.
Karl Heil & Ken Wade have filed a “petition for judicial review” February 6, 2017, contesting the NRB master plan approval. This will allow for a fair hearing of the issues ignored by the DNR and NRB. The “Petition for Judicial Review” says the DNR did not follow required procedures, used unsubstantiated facts and ignored other facts.
Some of the major issues include: noise impacts, impacts to a sensitive resource area (The Pleasure Valley Woods Primary Site), and skier safety at the new road crossing.
Karl Heil & Ken Wade also filed an “open meeting complaint” on September 21, 2016 which indicates that prior to the earlier January 25, NRB meeting, at which the BMSP plan was first approved, that the NRB members were briefed, lobbied and their votes tallied by the DNR prior to the board meeting without public knowledge or opportunity for input or comment.
Please consider supporting the legal challenge to the BMSP plan approval.
